Bodies of Trishuli River bus accident victims identified, search for missing continues

KATHMANDU: Police confirmed the names of the three victims found in the Narayani River on Saturday. These bodies were identified as passengers from the two buses that had plunged into the Trishuli river following a landslide.


Two bodies were recovered in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-28 and on an island in the Narayani River in Giandakot Municipality-7, according to Bheshraj Rijal, a spokesman for the District Police Office. These bodies were confirmed to be linked to the tragic incident at Simaltal.


One of the bodies, identified on Saturday, belonged to 22-year-old Bikas Pariyar from Chitwan Madi Municipality-1. His brother, Vijay Pariyar, positively identified him. Bikas had gotten on the bus from Bharatpur to Birgunj and then to Kathmandu.


The second body, found nearby, was identified as 19-year-old Ramit Kushar Majhi from Sarlahi Barhathwa Municipality-3. The third body, located in Golaghat, was identified as 28-year-old Rishi Pal Sah from Sitamani, Bihar, India. All bodies have since been handed over to their respective families.


The search continues for the missing buses and passengers, with no wreckage located thus far. Chief District Officer Indradev Yadav confirmed a significant deployment of security personnel engaged in the ongoing search operation in Simaltal and along the downstream areas of the Narayani river.
