KATHMANDU: An earthquake measuring 4.5 magnitude struck near the center of Sikkim in India on Friday morning, sending tremors through several eastern districts, including Biratnagar, the capital of Koshi Province. The quake occurred at 7:12 am, with the epicenter located about 22 km from Darjeeling.
Given the proximity to Nepal's border, the shockwaves were also felt in some districts of Nepal. Residents in the affected areas experienced the tremors, which added to the region's seismic activity awareness.
