KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has set an emergency cabinet meeting for Wednesday at 5 p.m. to discuss the rescue operations following the disaster at Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport, which involved the Saurya Airlines plane accident. This discussion will especially address what has to be done in the short and long term following the terrible tragedy.
A ministry said that during the meeting, PM Oli will offer a full briefing on the plane disaster, including details from the current investigation. The primary focus will be on coordinating rescue operations and providing assistance to individuals affected.
Earlier in the day, PM Oli, along with Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak and Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Minister Badri Pandey, visited the crash site for an on-site inspection. Their visit was part of an initial response to the disaster.
After inspecting the scene, PM Oli received an update from the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) regarding the rescue coordination efforts. The meeting is expected to address the immediate challenges and strategic plans moving forward.
