KATHMANDU: During today’s sitting, members of the House of Representatives (HoR) focused their attention on the necessity of prompt provision of government aid in districts affected by disasters caused by monsoon. They called for immediate medical treatment of the injured, and also large support to address the needs of the victims. Thakur Prasad Gaire further appealed to the government to immediately look for appropriate means of compensation for those who perished or got injured in these disasters.
Laxmi Tiwari emphasized how important it is for the government to improve how well it manages and mitigates the risks of disasters. In order to minimize unnecessary fatalities during the monsoon season, Bidhya Bhattarai stressed preventative measures. She brought up a recent tragic instance in Lamachaur, Pokhara, where a kid died as a result of improper sewage treatment.
In Pokhara, where the risk of landslides is persistent, Bidhya Bhattarai noted disruptions in people's movement and the threat of inundation in 17 settlements. She urged the government to take decisive action to rescue and support those affected. Achyut Prasad Mainali echoed concerns about the imminent dangers posed by natural disasters, urging the government to provide free medical treatment to the injured and ensure timely compensation for survivors.
Kiran Kumar Shah criticized the government for inadequate preparations to handle potential landslides and floods effectively. He emphasized the growing number of monsoon-related disasters and urged concentrated efforts toward planning and response. Emphasizing the value of preemptive efforts to reduce future dangers, Basudev Ghimire counseled the government to give disaster management and the rehabilitation of impacted populations first priority.
