KATHMANDU: The Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) informed that the Monsoon low-pressure system near Nepal will start moving southward today. This change suggests that there will be less rainfall during one of the monsoon seasons in the country.

Currently, weather conditions are gradually transitioning nationwide. Regions in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces are experiencing light to moderate rainfall, with occasional similar precipitation in other provinces.

MFD expects that most regions of Koshi and Gandaki will experience light to moderate rain with the likelihood of heavy rain in some areas. Likewise, the provinces of Madhesh, Bagmati, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim may also experience light to moderate showers in some places. Some provinces at scattered places later today may observe heavy to moderate rainfall along with thunder and lightning.

Given these forecasts, the MFD has advised the public to take necessary precautions due to heightened risks of landslides and potential impacts on daily activities, agriculture, health, tourism, and transportation.
