KATHMANDU: Family courts are set to begin operations in five more districts starting today. The Supreme Court will be inaugurating these courts in Morang, Dhanusha, Kaski, Rupandehi, and Banke districts.
Supreme Court spokesperson Bed Prasad Upreti stated that the expansion of family courts is part of a new fiscal year's initiative targeting districts with high caseloads.
These new family benches will address cases related to property disputes, relationship maintenance, domestic violence, children's welfare, and guardianship. The first family court was established at the Kathmandu District Court on October 9, 2023.
