KATHMANDU: Nepal's Ambassador to Egypt, Noha Elgebaly, has assured that Egypt will extend all possible support to Nepal in achieving its goal of transitioning to a developing country by November 2026. Speaking at a reception with Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav as the chief guest on Egypt's National Day, she emphasized Egypt's commitment to aiding Nepal's smooth socio-economic transition.
In a recent interview, the Egyptian deputy minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ahmed Elgebaly mentioned that the relations between Egypt and Nepal are good, especially in the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), G- 77, and the United Nations system. She reaffirmed Egypt’s interest in following up Nepal’s socio-economic development and political stability, as well as asserting that both countries have similar concerns on international matters such as climate change.
Speaking about the relations between both countries, the ambassador recalled that the diplomatic relations between Egypt and Nepal started in 1957. They are now both tourist-friendly countries she said this because Egypt has pyramids while Nepal has Mount Everest.
Furthermore, Ambassador Elgebaly mentioned that Egypt has provided opportunities for higher education to 300 Nepali students and expressed her commitment to increasing the scholarship quota in the future, reflecting Egypt's continued support for Nepal's development and educational advancement.
