KATHMANDU: Renowned Nepalese DJ Tenzing Sherpa has finished climbing Mount Everest, arriving at the summit at 4:47 AM on May 21. Before this accomplishment, he gained notoriety on May 17 when he attempted to set a Guinness World Record by planning a DJ event at 6,400-meter Everest Camp II. This occasion fell under the larger umbrella of his 'Everest Expedition 2024,' with the motto 'Stop Global Warming, Save the Himalayas.'

DJ Tenzing emphasized that his expedition aimed not only at personal accomplishment but also at promoting tourism and raising awareness about the environmental impact of climate change. He sees his role as a pioneer in Nepal's DJ culture as integral to spreading awareness through innovative events like the high-altitude concert.

Acknowledging DJ Tenzing's efforts, Hit Bahadur Tamang, the Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, lauded his initiative to raise public consciousness through such unconventional means. The minister symbolized government support by presenting DJ Tenzing with Nepal's national flag during a recognition ceremony.

DJ Tenzing is a native of Solukhumbu and has spent more than ten years planning music-related activities in the area, especially during International Everest Day on May 29. His latest projects combine activism with adventure, honoring Nepal's rich cultural legacy and raising awareness of important environmental challenges.
