KATHMANDU: The water level of the Saptakoshi River has surged dramatically, reaching 316,800 cusecs this morning as recorded at the Koshi Barrage. In response to the rising water levels, the Saptakoshi Hydromeasuring Center has opened 41 out of 56 sluice gates at the barrage.
With water levels surpassing the alert mark and continuing to rise, the Center has issued safety advisories for residents along the banks of Udaypur, Sunsari, and the Saptakoshi River. The Center uses red lights as cautionary signals: westward when water flow drops to 150,000 cusecs, eastward at 200,000 cusecs, and centrally at 300,000 cusecs.
