KATHMANDU: The 132-kV double circuit transmission line is now operating, which is essential for enhancing the quality of the power supply to Mahottari, Dhanusha, and other districts. The line, which spans Dhalkebar in Dhanusha and contains the Loharpatti substation, was formally inaugurated on Thursday. This Rs 1.13 billion project was created by the government and the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) to increase the reliability and efficiency of the area's electrical supply.
The transmission line spans 23 kilometers and is supported by 91 towers. The associated Loharpatti substation is equipped with two 30-MVA transformers and a 22.5 MVA transformer, giving the substation an overall capacity of 82.5 MVA. This upgrade aims to address issues such as electricity leakage, low voltage, and power outages.
The new infrastructure will benefit around 150,000 customers across the Janakpur, Jaleshwor, Gaushala, and Yadukuwa distribution centers. NEA's Madhes Province Office Director, Munindra Thakur, highlighted that the new substation would resolve longstanding power supply issues in the area.
Previously, power was supplied through Dhalkebar via Mujaliya of Janakpur. The construction of the transmission line and substation began approximately three years ago, marking a significant development in local power infrastructure.
