KATHMANDU: A free medical camp was set up for the provision of basic medical services to people numbering 870 at Myanglung-the district headquarters-with special emphasis on heart-related conditions. The project targeted those patients who found it difficult to afford specialized treatment.

The camp was organized in cooperation with Buddha Universal and the Kathmandu Lions Club, with technical support from the Martyr Gangalal Heart Centre. Additional assistance was also given by Nabil Bank, Myanglung Municipality, lawmaker Sita Gurung, and other local social organizations.

In addition to heart check-ups, participants were also screened for diabetes and blood pressure. Residents from all six local levels took advantage of the free medical services offered at the camp.

Patients who need additional therapy will receive free care at the Gangalal Heart Centre in Kathmandu, according to Dr. Rabi Malla, Executive Director. This made it possible for people who required cutting-edge medical care to have it without having to worry about the cost.

To further assist patients, the Jayanti Memorial Trust covered the cost of individuals who had to go to Kathmandu for continued care. This effort allowed for the assurance that people would not be refused necessary follow-up care because of their inability to pay.

A team of 18 experts provided medical care during the camp under the guidance of cardiologist Dr. Dipak Limbu. Their expertise was crucial for both diagnosing and advising people on heart health.

This project started as a means to answer the medical needs of heart patients living in rural areas with supportive assistance in logistical matters, financial support for city medical help being very scarce. The camp was able to provide the much-needed attention of specialists to the needy population.

Sanjay Kumar Tumbahamphe, the mayor, thanked all of the organizations that helped make the event a success. Lawmaker Gurung emphasized that the camp was a component of a broader, longer-term initiative to enhance healthcare access in the area.
