After two years of marriage, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are divorcing. Lopez filed for divorce in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Tuesday. The couple, who go by "Bennifer," tied the knot in a modest ceremony in July 2022 in Las Vegas then had a grander party in Georgia the following month. They met while doing the "Gigli" movie in 2002, and after a brief break in the beginning of 2004, they resumed their relationship almost two decades later.
Both parties must reveal all financial information, including income, expenses, properties, and debts; Lopez's divorce filing included no mention of a prenuptial agreement. Affleck will have a further 60 days to provide Affleck's financial disclosure following Lopez's 60-day deadline. There could be penalties imposed by the court for noncompliance.
For months, there has been conjecture over their romantic relationship. Reportedly, they listed their Beverly Hills estate for sale and were frequently spotted apart, devoid of their wedding bands. The couple's breakup has garnered media attention, indicating increased curiosity about their well-publicized union.
Lopez has been married four times previously, including to Marc Anthony, with whom she has twins. Affleck was previously married to Jennifer Garner, with whom he has three children. Additionally, Lopez and Alex Rodriguez were once engaged.
