Deepak Raj Kaliraj wins top prize in National Youth singing competition

KATHMANDU: Deepak Raj Kaliraj from Makwanpur was awarded the top prize in a singing competition held on Saturday. Raja Rajput from Dhanusha secured the second prize, while Suraj Khati from Rupandehi received the third prize. The finale of the National Youth Singing Competition took place in Bhaktapur on Thursday. This event was organized by the National Youth Council in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and co-organized by Mission Sanchar Multimedia Group.

Throughout the competition, music composer B.P. Wagle, folk singer Devi Gharti Magar, and singer Bhadra Oli served as judges, overseeing the digital auditions, physical auditions, and the final round. Lyricists B. Pandey, Suman Bairagi, and Ganesh Subedi were tasked with composing the lyrics for the new song to be recorded by the winners. Music composition duties were assigned to B.P. Wagle.

During the closing ceremony, held at the Nepal Tourism Board Hall, journalists who have made significant contributions to the field of journalism were also honored. Esteemed journalists such as Prakash Chandra Timilsina, C.B. Adhikari, Sukrit Nepal, Nabin Giri, and Tara Subedi were recognized with letters of appreciation. The awards were presented in the presence of Surendra Basnet, Executive Vice-President of the National Youth Council.
