A teacher at Shree Madhyamik School in Garuda Municipality-1, Rautahat, named Rabindra Prasad Sah was dismissed after being accused of acting inappropriately toward a 16-year-old pupil. After Sah wrote the child a message that read, "Happy Birthday, My Dear," the incident became public knowledge and sparked uproar.
The decision to dismiss him was made during a meeting held on Ashad 29 (July 13), which included ward chair Rajesh Kumar Sahni, local parents, political representatives, and community leaders. According to Rajkumar Das, the outgoing chair of the school management committee, complaints had surfaced that Sah had been sending inappropriate, sexually suggestive messages to the girl over the past year.
Sah, 49, taught English up to grade 7 and social studies to grade 9. Once the message was made public, angry students resorted to protests, vandalism, and physically confronted Sah, prompting the police to arrest him the same day. A formal complaint of indecent behavior has been filed, and the police have secured a seven-day remand, said DSP Rajan Karki of the Garuda Police Office.
Additionally, locals disclosed that Sah had previously been accused of similar misbehavior in 2062–2063 BS, for which he received only social punishment rather than legal repercussions. They think this made it possible for him to do what he did again.
Due to unlawful appointment procedures, Sah, who was hired under the relief quota, was also fired by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) in 2072 BS. Parents, students, and community members are now demanding stringent legal action and prompt psychiatric treatment for the impacted youth in light of the recent accusations.
