KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has directed that relevant government entities provide affiliation to B&C Medical College, owned by Durga Prasain in Jhapa, within 15 days.
A joint bench comprising Justices Kumar Chudal and Saranga Subedi overturned the decision of the Medical Education Commission from March 25, 2020, which had previously denied affiliation to the college. The court has instructed the college to fulfill the necessary criteria within the stipulated 15-day period.
In its detailed decision issued on March 25, the joint bench ordered the concerned defendants to provide affiliation to the college within the specified timeframe, prior to the commencement of this year's academic session, for the operation of MBBS programs. Additionally, the B&C Medical College has been directed to ensure faculty management and meet the requirements outlined by the inspection team.
The bench has underscored the importance of issuing a mandamus to the defendants, including Kathmandu University, Dhulikhel, Kavre, and the Medical Education Commission in Sanothimi Bhaktapur, among others, to afford the college the opportunity to admit students into the MBBS program.
