KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has urged private institutional schools to allocate a minimum of 10 percent scholarships to students up to grade 10. A notice issued by the Education Department of KMC on Thursday emphasizes the need for all private institutional schools in the metropolis to ensure the fair distribution of scholarships among their students.
Following repeated appeals from KMC, 473 institutional schools in the metropolis have submitted details regarding the scholarships they offer as of June 5. The metropolis has also made public the list of schools committed to providing such scholarships. Schools that have not yet provided scholarship details are directed to do so within three days. Failure to comply may result in them being designated as non-operational for the academic session of 2081, with admissions suspended. Additionally, KMC has warned that private schools failing to meet the 10 percent scholarship requirement will face legal consequences.
