KATHMANDU: In a special operation by the Kathmandu District Police Range, police apprehended a suspect involved in robbing hikers in the Kathmandu Valley. The operation was initiated following an incident where three unidentified individuals wielded sharp weapons at people traveling near Bindabasini Temple in Nagarjun Municipality-7, Kathmandu, before fleeing the scene.
Dhan Bahadur Syangtang, the robbery group's leader, was captured during a checkpoint search in Syuchatar. Police found sharp weapons and stolen goods, which connected Syangtang to a string of recent thefts. This led to Syangtang's arrest.
The number of robbery cases has increased, with hikers in the Kathmandu Valley being the primary target. As a result, police oversight and efforts to quell illegal activity have intensified.
