KATHMANDU: Dr. Mukul Dhakal, the suspended general secretary of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has appealed to the Election Commission (EC) to halt any processing related to his suspension. In a letter submitted on Sunday, Dhakal claimed he was unaware of his dismissal and condemned the communication as unlawful, requesting that it not be processed.
Citing Section 51 of the Political Parties Act, 2073, which permits a 30-day opportunity for updates, Dhakal advised the EC to reject any update letters received. Additionally, he contended that he was not afforded a reasonable chance to state his argument in accordance with subsection (2) of Section 18 of the Political Parties Act. Dhakal underlined that acts committed without giving someone the chance to seek justice are unlawful and that the Nepalese Constitution preserves democratic ideals.
Furthermore, Dhakal stated that any party meeting held without his authorization or presence is considered illegal. He asserted that he has not authorized any central committee member or official to convene meetings, and any meeting held in his absence or without his consent will be deemed illegal.
