KATHMANDU: Former Director General of the Department of Irrigation, Madhukar Prasad Rajbhandari, along with his wife, Dipa Shrestha, has been acquitted of corruption charges by the Special Court on Monday. The court, consisting of Chairperson Teknarayan Kunwar and members Tejnarayan Singh Rai and Ritendra Thapa, cleared them of all allegations.

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) filed the lawsuit a year ago, alleging that Rajbhandari accumulated unlawful money while serving in the government. Of the assets valued at Rs 74.23 million, the CIAA said that only Rs 38.56 million could be traced back to legal sources.

Following judicial hearings that reviewed the evidence put up by the prosecution and defense, the defendant was found not guilty.
