KATHMANDU: Late last night, a massive fire broke out in the shutters situated at the main chowk of Damauli, the administrative center of Tanahun district. The incident occurred around 1:00 am in the shutters located in the Main Chowk of Byas Municipality-3. The fire quickly engulfed approximately 20 shutters, causing extensive damage amounting to lakhs of rupees.
Efforts to contain the blaze were led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Deepak Kumar Rai of the District Police Office Tanahun. It took three hours of concerted efforts to fully bring the fire under control. Assistance in extinguishing the flames was provided by four fire engines dispatched from various entities including the Tanahun Hydropower Project, Muglin Pokhara Road Project, and Byas Municipality.
The collaborative response involved multiple agencies including the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and local residents. Their combined efforts played a crucial role in containing the fire and preventing further spread of damage. By 4:00 am, the fire was successfully extinguished, averting further potential harm to the area.
The incident underscores the importance of swift and coordinated emergency response efforts in mitigating the impact of such calamities. Authorities are likely to conduct investigations to determine the cause of the fire and assess the extent of the damages incurred by the affected businesses and properties in the area.
