KATHMANDU: This morning, tragedy struck on bridge number three in Ichchakamana Rural Municipality-5 under the Narayangadh-Muglin road section as an excavator driver lost his life in a landslide. The District Police Office Chitwan reported that 38-year-old Mangal Chaudhury from Bardiya Geduwa Rural Municipality-4 was operating an excavator (Ba 2 Ka 8651) when the landslide occurred. Chaudhury, who was engaged in cutting a wall for road expansion, was buried under debris along with the excavator.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bheshraj Rijal, spokesperson at the Chitwan DPO, informed that Chaudhury was rescued and rushed to the Old Medical College for treatment. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries. The landslide caused significant damage, completely destroying the excavator and also impacting a truck (Na 6 Kha 1511) traveling from Muglin towards Narayangadh.
Despite the tragic incident, vehicle movement along the road section has not been halted. Efforts to clear the landslide and restore normalcy to the area are currently underway, as mentioned by DSP Rijal. The authorities are working diligently to address the aftermath of the landslide and ensure the safety of travelers using the Narayangadh-Muglin road.
