KATHMANDU: A night bus operated by Shaileshwari Transport was involved in an accident at Samuhagad in Doti's Dipayal Silgadhi Municipality-4 on Friday morning while traveling from Dhangadi to Dipayal. The bus, which was carrying 17 people total, including the driver, veered off the road and struck a house belonging to a local, damaging it as well. Sixteen passengers and one woman who was inside the house at the time of the accident, Sarun Negi, were among the injured.
The injured passengers include individuals from various areas: Indra Bogti, Tej Bahadur Singh, Harak Bahadur Singh, Lalveere Bhul, Dal Bahadur Bayadi, Hikmat, Dev Bogti, Dambari Khadka, Dil Bahadur Nepali, Bhesraj Dhami, Krishna Bishta, Santosh Bohra, Prakash Khadka, Sabita Deuba, and the driver Bharat Rawal. The injuries vary in severity, and all the injured are receiving treatment at Soo-Jung Hospital in Rajpur.
The bus fell approximately 35 meters from the road due to a brake failure caused by a broken pressure pipe, according to the driver. Sarun Negi, who was asleep at home, sustained injuries but her condition is stable. The bus accident has led to a critical condition for some passengers, who are being prepared for transfer to other medical facilities for advanced care.
The incident highlights the need for better vehicle maintenance and road safety measures. The ongoing treatment and recovery of the injured individuals are being closely monitored, and authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the brake failure and the overall safety of the transportation service involved.
