Home Minister orders investigation into fatal Gathaghar accident

KATHMANDU: The accident in Gathaghar, Bhaktapur, on Thursday that claimed a life has prompted Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak to order Inspector General of Police (IGP) Basanta Kunwar to conduct a thorough investigation. The Home Minister emphasized the need to quickly ascertain the accident's cause and prosecute those found guilty, including looking into any possible police errors.


The accident involved a scooter driver, Uttam Koirala from Okhaldhunga, who died instantly when a truck, registration number Na. 6 Kha 2173, collided with his scooter (Ba 39 Pa 8944) near Gathaghar Chowk. Following the collision, the truck driver fled the scene but was later apprehended by the New Baneshwar Circle Tinkune of Kathmandu and handed over to the Thimi Police for further investigation.


Minister Lekhak's instructions reflect his concern over the incident and the need for a thorough examination to prevent similar occurrences in the future and ensure justice for the victim.
