KATHMANDU: Vehicular movement on the Galchhi-Rasuwagadhi road has been completely obstructed due to a landslide that brought down boulders near Belkotgadhi Municipality-8, Borokhola in Nuwakot. According to Chief Jejung Karki of the District Traffic Office, the landslide has blocked the entire double-lane road, causing significant disruptions, particularly on the stretch from Devighat to Galchhi via Mahadevphant.
With no alternative routes available in the vicinity, transport vehicles are facing considerable challenges. The police have advised vehicles traveling to Kerung via Trishuli of Nuwakot and Rasuwagadhi from Galchhi, Dhading, to divert to Kathmandu using the Tokha-Chhahare road instead.
Efforts to clear the debris began this morning, with human resources and heavy equipment deployed. However, Chief of the Galchhi-Rasuwagadhi Road Project Office, Dhurba Kumar Shrestha, indicated that it will take some time to fully reopen the road, as a 'breaker' needs to be used to remove the large boulders that fell during the landslide on Wednesday night.
