KATHMANDU: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has announced a scheme to refund depositors up to Rs 500,000 by utilizing the assets of cooperative operators and their family members as security. Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari announced this move with the release of the monetary policy for fiscal year 2081/82.

The policy aims to address issues in the cooperative sector. This program builds on a previous commitment made by former Finance Minister Barsaman Pun, who vowed to restore depositor cash up to Rs 500,000 when he presented the fiscal year's budget.
