NEPSE Index climbs 1.39% to close at 2,690.72

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Index saw a noteworthy rise on Monday, closing at 2,690.72 after gaining by 37.13 points, or 1.39%. This upward trend indicates a favorable market trend and supports a busy trading session.


Apart from the NEPSE Index, the Sensitive Index, which evaluates the performance of class 'A' equities, also experienced a 1.53% increase. In a similar vein, the Float Index, which assesses shares that are actively traded, rose by 1.41%, suggesting that investors are still somewhat interested.


Sectoral performance improved significantly, with the Hotels and Tourism Index leading the advances with a noteworthy 3.50 percent increase. The Development Bank sector experienced an increase of 1.19%, while the Banking industry saw a gain of 1.90%. The Microfinance and Trading sectors had advances of 1.51% and 1.46%, respectively, while the HydroPower Index increased by 1.05%.


On the other hand, certain industries saw decreases. There was a 0.71% decline in the Finance Index and a 1.29% decline in the Manufacturing and Processing Index. Significantly, Eastern Hydropower Limited (EHPL) saw a 10% decline in the value of its shares.


There was a total turnover of Rs 7.09 billion throughout the day's active trade. This amount indicates a considerable rise in market activity compared to Sunday's transaction of Rs 6.13 billion. 


A market value of Rs 4.27 trillion was achieved by the trading of 15,845,449 shares across 305 scrips in 73,119 transactions. This impressive result demonstrates how much confidence there is in the Nepalese stock market.
