KATHMANDU: During the 'Emergency Hour' in today's House of Representatives meeting, lawmakers strongly condemned the shooting death of Hari Bhusan Kushwaha, the Campus Chief of Ramraja Mohan Bikram Sah Multiple Campus in Kalaiya, Bara district. CPN (UML) lawmaker Achyut Prasad Mainali denounced the incident, highlighting a pattern of such murders occurring in the region. Mainali emphasized Kushwaha's reputation as an academic and honest individual, urging the government to prioritize citizen security.
Mainali referenced previous killings in Bara district, including the murder of Rupesh Sarraf, the Principal of Bal Ekata Boarding School, and an Indian national in separate incidents. He expressed concern over the growing insecurity near the border areas, attributing it to the influx of firearms from across the open border with India. Mainali also recalled past incidents of political violence in the Madhesh province, calling for immediate action to prevent further bloodshed.
Additionally, Rastriya Swatantra Party lawmaker Ashok Kumar Chaudhary echoed Mainali's sentiments, emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation into Kushwaha's killing. Chaudhary lamented the targeting of educators, describing the recent surge in violence in the Madhesh province. He urged the government to prioritize the investigation and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice swiftly.
