3 arrested with 14.25 kg of illegal silver jewelry in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police arrested three individuals in possession of 14.25 kg of silver jewelry. The arrested individuals are identified as Aman Kumar (22), Bikikumar Sah (26), and Shrawan Prasad Kanun (34), all Indian nationals residing in Liparnibirta-6, Parsa. They were involved in selling illegal silver jewelry.


The police found the silver jewelry hidden in the trunk of a car with the Indian registration number BR 06 U 9053 during a check at the auto workshop of Auto Services Pvt in Sano Gaucharan, Kathmandu. Based on information that the suspects were transporting silver jewelry illegally from Lalitpur to Kathmandu for distribution, the arrests were made on July 5.


The CIB has forwarded the case to the Department of Revenue Investigation for further action against those involved in the illegal storage and sale of silver jewelry.
