KATHMANDU: Two Indian trekkers, Tony Parmar and Aman Jyoti Parmar from Mumbai, were successfully rescued after getting stranded during their Annapurna Circuit trek. The incident occurred as they were descending from Thorong La Pass to Mustang, accompanied by a group of 10 Indian trekkers and six Nepali guides and helpers.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bhojraj Pandey, the Parmar duo fell behind the group during the descent to Muktinath from Thorong La Pass and lost contact due to adverse weather conditions. They spent the night in a tent and were rescued the following morning.

The trekkers, who had been out of contact since Wednesday afternoon, sought shelter in a tent as the weather worsened. After the rest of the group reported their absence to the area police office in Muktinath on Thursday morning, a search operation was initiated.

DSP Pandey, along with security personnel and local officers, led the search effort, which included deploying a helicopter to locate the stranded trekkers. The rescue team found Tony and Aman Parmar at the lower T-Sup camp of Baragung Mukti Kshetra Rural Municipality-2 in Mustang, below Thorong La, at 10 AM on Thursday.

The trekkers were airlifted to safety and transported to Kathmandu via Jomsom. Their successful rescue highlights the importance of preparedness and coordination in tackling unforeseen challenges during high-altitude treks in the Himalayas.
