KATHMANDU: Two Spanish tourists, Erik Kasanovas and Molass Missy, have gone missing while hiking in the Ghorepani area of the Annapurna Circuit in Nepal. They were last seen traveling from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani, and their abandoned bags were found near the Bhurungdi River bridge on Sunday evening. Despite an extensive search on Monday, their current whereabouts remain unknown.

Authorities suspect the tourists may have been swept away by the river. The tourists had registered their trek at the ECAP check post in Birethanti on Sunday morning. It is believed they might have fallen into the river while taking photographs or placing a bag on the road. The picturesque location where their bags were found suggests they could have been trying to capture the scene.

The search, involving police, public representatives, and local residents, has so far yielded only two sticks as clues. A team with divers is scheduled to search the river on Tuesday to locate the missing tourists.
