KATHMANDU: On Sunday morning, a roadblock was staged by Samyukta Yatayat in front of the Surkhet bus park, protesting against police restrictions on picking up passengers. The blockade was initiated after Samyukta Yatayat accused the police of unfairly preventing their vehicles from stopping at the bus park, while other operators were allowed to do so.

The conflict involves Hilsa Transport Pvt Ltd and Samyukta Yatayat, both of which have been reportedly involved in aggressive practices towards passengers and their luggage. Despite police efforts to manage the situation, including deploying officers every morning, the aggressive tactics of the transport operators continue unabated.

The roadblock, which lasted about 40 minutes, caused significant disruption, particularly affecting school buses and ambulances. Samyukta Yatayat claims that the police have been inconsistently enforcing parking regulations, targeting their vehicles while permitting others to pick up passengers. Transport entrepreneurs are calling for a permanent resolution to address the ongoing disputes among transport operators.
