Kathmandu to host 8th South Asian Travel Awards in September

KATHMANDU: The eighth edition South Asian Travel Award (SATA)  is scheduled to take place in Kathmandu on September 19–20. Representatives from more than 250 hotels, travel agencies, airlines, and media outlets from six different countries will be present at this esteemed event. The Malla Hotel and Aloft Hotel will host the event, which will include 44 awards in different categories honoring the best in hospitality around South Asia.


During a press conference in Kathmandu, the organizers stated that the event's hosting has received approval from the Hotel Association of Nepal and the Nepal Tourism Board. They also highlighted how crucial the occasion is to boosting business and trade in the tourism sector. Vice Chairman of the Nepal Tourism Board Ram Prasad Sapkota believes the event has the potential to grow the country's tourism and hospitality sectors.


The event's beneficial effects on the growth of tourism were highlighted by Nandini Lahe Thapa, Executive Chief of the Nepal Tourism Board, in her welcome to Nepal. Hotel Association Nepal Chairman Binayak Shah expressed hope that holding the award event in Nepal will revive the industry, which has recently encountered difficulties. Tek Bahadur Mahat, the CEO of the Hotel Association of Nepal, is one of the Nepali jurors participating in the prize selection procedure.
