KATHMANDU: The Karnali Province government collected Rs 21.475 million in revenue from various tourism destinations within the province during the last fiscal year 2023/24. This total includes Rs 4.112 million from Rara National Park, Rs 9.090 million from Surkhet Provincial Martyrs Park, Rs 1.150 million from Kakrebihar, and Rs 7.114 million from Bulbule Park.
Dev Kumari Shahi, Chief Administrative Officer of the Tourism Development Section under the Industry, Tourism, Forests, and Environment Ministry, mentioned that this total does not include revenue from other notable sites such as Shey Phoksundo Lake, Dailekh View Tower at Guranse Rural Municipality, and several other locations.
Additionally, the Ministry lacks records of revenue from Kupinde Lake in Salyan, Syarpu Pond in Rukum East, Gidi Pond, Chandannath Temple, Kanakasundari in Jumla, Tripurasundari in Dolpa, Pachal Waterfall in Kalikot, Panchakoshi, Dullu Palace, Gadhi area of Dailekh, Limi Valley in Humla, Jajarkot Palace, Baraha Pond, and Jajura Pond in Surkhet.
As a result, the total revenue from tourism within Karnali Province for the last fiscal year could be significantly higher if these sites were included in the reported figures.
