KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal is scheduled to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday. Amrit Rai, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, confirmed that Dahal will travel to New Delhi for the event, with the ministry finalizing the accompanying delegates.
Modi's re-election marks a historic third consecutive term, following the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance's victory in the recent elections. Modi becomes only the second leader after Jawaharlal Nehru to secure a third term. Saarc countries' heads of government have been invited to the ceremony.
Dahal congratulated Modi on his victory, noting the successful completion of India's democratic exercise. They also had a telephone conversation, during which they emphasized their commitment to strengthening the deep-rooted partnership between India and Nepal. Other Nepali leaders, including Sher Bahadur Deuba and KP Sharma Oli, also congratulated Modi on his re-election.
