KATHMANDU: In order to discuss recent events, including his suspension from party posts, Dr. Mukul Dhakal, the former General Secretary of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has called a news conference for today. At a party central committee meeting yesterday, the decision was reached to suspend Dhakal from his positions as general secretary, spokesperson, and member of the central committee.
After his suspension, Dhakal expressed his sentiments on social media, referring to the RSP as "Rabi Lamichhane's club" and indicating his commitment to continue his efforts for the country's prosperity outside of what he termed as Chairman Rabi Lamichhane's influence. He hinted at further statements to be made during his press conference.
The RSP has given Dhakal a 35-day window to appeal the decision. Dhakal has publicly criticized RSP Chairman Rabi Lamichhane, accusing him of singling him out unfairly while neglecting accountability for issues within the party, including allegations related to cooperative fraud. As a result of his public statements, the party cited Dhakal for violating party policies and decisions, leading to his disciplinary action.
