KATHMANDU: In a tragic accident between a double-decker passenger bus and a milk truck in northern India, at least eighteen persons were killed and numerous more were injured. The tragedy occurred on a highway in Uttar Pradesh, and locals swiftly rushed the 19 injured persons to nearby hospitals. According to police officer Arvind Kumar, the status of the hospitalized people are stable.
The bus is said to have rear-ended the milk truck at a high speed while traveling from Bihar to New Delhi, causing both vehicles to flip. Initial investigations, according to government official Gaurang Rathi, indicate that the bus was speeding when it collided catastrophically, tearing off one side and ejecting people into the road. The accident scene was littered with bodies, as shown in television images.
An investigation has begun to identify the actual cause of the accident, and officials are currently seeking to identify the fatalities. India has a high death rate due to factors such as irresponsible driving, inadequate road upkeep, and antiquated automobile fleets. The country has serious issues with road safety. This tragedy highlights persistent worries about the nation's road safety since these mishaps sadly result in hundreds of thousands of fatalities annually.
