KATHMANDU: Chief Minister of Bagmati Province Bahadur Singh Lama is to seek a vote of confidence on Tuesday. The provincial legislature will meet in this regard at 3 pm. Lama became chief minister on July 23 with the support extended to him from the CPN-UML, as parliamentary party leader of Nepali Congress.
Lama secured support from 37 Nepali Congress lawmakers and 27 UML lawmakers. In the 110-member provincial assembly, he requires at least 56 votes to maintain his position. Given the support from both the Nepali Congress and UML, CM Lama is anticipated to win the confidence vote.
21 legislators from the CPN (Maoist Center), 13 from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (which includes the Speaker), 7 from the CPN (Unified Socialist), 3 from the Nepal Workers Peasants Party, and 2 from the Hamro Nepali Party are also present in the province assembly.
