KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Narayankaji Shrestha has emphasized the enduring history of friendship and cooperation between Nepal and India, stressing the importance of addressing any existing issues through dialogue and diplomacy. Speaking at the third lecture series initiated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in honor of former ambassador and foreign secretary Professor Yadunath Khanal in Kathmandu, Shrestha highlighted the deep-seated connections between the two nations, citing cultural affinity and multifaceted ties.
After Professor C. Rajamohan, the former director of the South Asian Studies Institute and the keynote speaker of the series focusing on Nepal-India relations, delivered a speech, the Foreign Minister reiterated the importance of addressing historical issues through dialogue and diplomacy, rooted in factual understanding and the spirit of good neighborliness. He underscored the government's commitment to advancing Nepal-India relations to new heights through this approach.
Minister Shrestha underscored that bilateral relations are based on principles of sovereign equality, peaceful co-existence, goodwill, mutual trust, and understanding. He highlighted the positive impact of high-level visits in bolstering ties and nurturing partnerships across various sectors.
Addressing the establishment of consultation mechanisms to bolster cooperation across different sectors of bilateral relations, Foreign Minister Shrestha stressed the potential for mutual cooperation and partnership through these frameworks. The key aim of the project is to develop sustainable recycling and upcycling ventures to encourage environmentally friendly economic practices.
