KATHMANDU: The Palpa district's farmers have successfully harvested over 9,000 metric tons of oranges this year, a slight increase above the 8,861 metric tons produced the previous year. According to the Agriculture Knowledge Centre, this increase was confirmed, and the citrus output was larger than the year before.
Orange sales brought in a total of Rs 527.84 million for the farmers, a substantial increase over the Rs 460.7 million made the previous season, according to Center Chief Santosh Kumar Chaudhari. Farmers' incomes have increased as a result of better market circumstances.
Better market opportunities and improved production have delighted local orange growers. Farmers are feeling hopeful, according to Chaudhari, because their farming endeavors are bolstered by favorable trends in production and sales.
With 3,639 metric tons, Tansen (546 metric tons), Mathaghadi (91 metric tons), Purvakhola (728 metric tons), Bagnaskali (910 metric tons), and Ribdikot (1,184 metric tons) came in second and third, respectively.
Palpa has a long history of commercial orange cultivation, with large-scale production occurring in six out of ten localities. Citrus growing in the area has a bright future, as seen by the production's continual increase.
