KATHMANDU: Monday night in Rolpa, there was a jeep accident that claimed the lives of at least seven persons. Five people perished at the site, according to Chief District Officer Khim Bahadur Rayamajhi, while two more people died from their injuries in the hospital.
The accident involved a jeep carrying 15 people, seven of whom died. The remaining eight passengers, including the driver, sustained injuries. The incident occurred at Parevachhahara in Madi Rural Municipality.
The jeep, identified by the registration number Lu 1 Ja 3252, was traveling from Ghartigaun to Talawang in Madi Rural Municipality-2 when it veered off the road and plummeted approximately 400 meters down a slope. The accident took place on Monday evening.
According to preliminary accounts, a landslide that blocked the route caused the car to stop. According to police information, the incident happened when the jeep tried to reverse, resulting in the tragic drop.
