KATHMANDU: This morning, a bus registered in the Indian district of Tanahun crashed into the Marsyangdi River due to an accident. Fourteen confirmed fatalities have been verified, while at least 29 passengers have been saved. About fifteen of the people who were rescued are able to speak, according to the Gandaki Province Police Office in Pokhara.
Initial estimates suggest that around 40 passengers were on board. A search operation for the remaining passengers is ongoing, led by the police. The rescued passengers are being transported to hospitals for treatment, with 16 individuals already sent to a local hospital.
The identity of the other passengers on the bus and those who were saved have not yet been made public. Authorities are still searching and rescuing people as they try to ascertain the complete number of casualties and locate any more passengers.
