KATHMANDU: Two teenage girls tragically lost their lives in Kanchanpur due to flooding on Monday. Superintendent of Police Chakraraj Joshi from the District Police Office confirmed that 15-year-olds Srijana Bogati and Lakshmi Bogati, residents of Ratokhali in Punarwas Municipality-5, drowned near their home in the afternoon. Their bodies have been recovered, but there is concern about the whereabouts of Aarati Bogati, whose condition remains unknown. Another girl, twelve-year-old Anjali Bogati, survived the incident.
The group of four girls was traveling to another village when they were swept away by floodwaters from the road. The heavy rainfall over the past two days has caused widespread inundation in Kanchanpur, submerging most areas and making travel extremely challenging.
In addition to this tragic incident, on Sunday, seven-month-old Sonu Dhanuk drowned in Krishnapur municipality-1, Pahariya, after floodwaters entered her house. Additionally, 23-year-old Dambar Chaudhary of Beldandi Rural Municipality-3 went missing after being swept away by the flooded Chaudhar river.
