KATHMANDU: The death toll from a devastating landslide in Doramba Shailung Rural Municipality-3 Tokarpur, Ramechhap, has risen to six. The landslide, triggered by heavy rainfall, swept away four houses and left the entire settlement at risk. Among the deceased are 32-year-old Chandika Shrestha and her 18-month-old child, Amush, along with other victims, including Urmila Pahadi and her family members.
There are still four people missing, and search and rescue operations are still in progress. Anjana Shrestha, a tiny child, was pulled from the wreckage, but she is hurt. The devastation of the landslide on the community was further compounded by the loss of animals.
The rescue operations are being hindered by severe road damage and the destruction of a concrete bridge over the Adheri River, making access to the affected village challenging. A team of 11, including Ramechhap Police Chief Deputy Superintendent of Police Pradeep Kumar Singh, is on the ground coordinating the ongoing search and rescue efforts.
