KATHMANDU: The construction of the 132 kV double-circuit transmission line from Sandhikharka Municipality-6 in Phuwang, Arghakhanchi, to Resunga Municipality-7 in Unaychaur, Gulmi, is completed. Similarly, the construction of the 132 kV Tamghas substation is completed at Unaychaur under the same transmission line project. Nepal Electricity Authority announced that the 16 km long transmission line and the Tamghas substation were brought into operation on Wednesday.

There are 132/33 kV, 30 MVA, and 33/11 kV, 16 MVA power transformers installed at the Tamghas sub-station, enabling the evacuation of about 200 megawatts of electricity through the line. The creation of three 33 kV feeders and four 11 kV feeders from the sub-station to local power supply has also been improved, out of which two each have already been energized to locally supply electricity.

The completion of the transmission line and substation is going to make a huge difference in the reliability and quality of electricity supply in Gulmi district," said Kul Man Ghising, the managing director at NEA. The problems of frequent tripping and low voltage, mainly due to the extended length of the previous 33 kV line, are expected to be resolved, hence ensuring a more reliable and higher-quality electricity supply to the region.

This is the project of the Burtibang-Paudi-Amarahi-Tamghas-Sandhikharka-Gorusinge 132 kV transmission line, all aimed at augmenting the power distribution in Palpa, Arghakhanchi, and Gulmi. The estimated value of the project has surged to 39.5 million USD, and it is being constructed in partnership with the government in conjunction with the NEA.
