KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN-UML have reached an agreement to share power in Bagmati Province, leading to the appointment of new ministers by the UML. While the NC’s Bahadur Singh Lama has secured the position of Chief Minister with support from 64 lawmakers, the UML is still deciding which ministries will be allocated to its new appointees.
The new ministers from the UML include Prakash Shrestha from Kathmandu, Prem Bhakta Maharjan from Lalitpur, Aman Maskey from Kathmandu, Krishna Silwal from Chitwan, Sukmaya Tamang from Sindhuli, and Kiran Thapa Magar from Bhaktapur. Notably, this cabinet will feature five fresh faces from the UML, with Prakash Shrestha being the only returning member.
The specifics of which ministries these new appointees will oversee are still pending finalization. This shift marks a significant change in the provincial government’s composition, reflecting the evolving power dynamics within the region.
