KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Transitional Justice (TJ) mechanism took place this morning at the Ministry of Home Affairs in Singha Durbar and concluded with plans to reconvene on Thursday. The session was attended by key figures including Nepali Congress leader and Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, CPN-UML Parliamentary Party Chief Whip Mahesh Bartaula, and CPN (Maoist Center) Deputy General Secretary Janardan Sharma. Also present were Minister for Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Ajay Chaurasia, Chairperson of the Law, Justice, and Human Rights Committee Bimala Subedi, and Attorney General Ramesh Badal.
During today's discussions, the members focused on reviewing the existing law, the transitional justice bill, and the report from the sub-committee. Bartaula noted that the next meeting is scheduled for Thursday at 8 AM at the Ministry of Home Affairs. He added that a draft summarizing today's discussions will be prepared and future meetings will build upon this draft.
Earlier on Friday, the mechanism had also met to address the need for consensus on the transitional justice bill, indicating ongoing efforts to finalize and refine the legislative framework.
