KATHMANDU: President Ramchandra Paudel departed from Doha, Qatar, this morning en route to Geneva to participate in the 112th session of the International Labour Conference. Before his departure, the President-led delegation received a send-off at Hamad International Airport on Tuesday night, with officials from the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nepal’s Ambassador to Qatar Naresh Bikram Dhakal, and staff from the Nepali embassy in attendance, as reported by Kiran Pokharel, the President’s press advisor.
During his visit to Geneva, President Paudel is slated to engage in bilateral discussions with Viola Amherd, the President of the Swiss Confederation, today, in accordance with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Following this, he is scheduled to deliver a speech at the inaugural session of the Global Coalition Forum for Social Justice on Thursday. Additionally, President Paudel is expected to receive a courtesy call from Gilbert F. Houngbo, the Director General of the International Labour Organization (ILO), tomorrow.
After his engagements in Geneva, President Paudel will proceed to Berlin on June 15 for an official visit at the invitation of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. Formal discussions with his German counterpart are set to take place on June 17. During his stay in Germany, President Paudel will visit various institutions and landmarks, including the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, the German Research Centre for Geosciences, and the Telegraph Feinberg Campus. He also plans to explore the Cecilienhof and Sanssouci Palace Gardens and Museum.
Moreover, the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) in Germany will honor President Paudel on June 16, during which he will address the Nepali community residing in Germany. Additionally, he is scheduled to engage with industrialists and businessmen involved in Germany’s trade and investment sectors on June 17.
President Paudel is expected to conclude his overseas visit and return to Kathmandu on June 19, following his itinerary in Geneva and Berlin.
