Nepal's PHC begins review of proposed ambassadors

KATHMANDU: Today, the Parliamentary Hearing Committee (PHC) will begin its evaluation of the 18 ambassadors recommended by the government for positions in various nations. The 33rd meeting of the PHC will be held at 12:15 PM in Shankar Hall of the Federal Parliament Building in New Baneshwar. The committee will address any concerns against the nominees and then set a date for the final hearing.


The government had recommended these ambassadors on July 30. Notable nominees include CPN-UML Standing Committee member and former Deputy Speaker Shiva Maya Tumbahamphe for South Korea, and Dr. Shankar Sharma for India. Other key recommendations are former Chief Secretary Lokdarshan Regmi for the US, former Secretary Chandra Ghimire for the UK, Krishna Prasad Oli for China, and Dr. Netra Prasad Timsina for Malaysia. 


Additional nominees are Naresh Bikram Dhakal for Saudi Arabia, Dhan Prasad Pandit for Israel, Kapil Shrestha for South Africa, Dr. Shail Rupakheti for Germany, Kanta Rijal for Australia, Sanil Nepal for Spain, Ramakrishna Bhattarai for Sri Lanka, Prakash Mani Paudel for Portugal, Rita Dhital for Pakistan, Sumnima Tuladhar for Denmark, and Jangab Chauhan for Russia.


The list of these proposed ambassadors was submitted to the PHC for review on Sunday. The final appointments will be confirmed by the President following the committee's approval.
