Nepali President Paudel arrives in Germany for official visit

KATHMANDU: President Ramchandra Paudel embarked on an official visit to Germany, arriving in Berlin on Saturday local time at the gracious invitation of President Frank-Walter Steinmeier of the Federal Republic of Germany. Senior representatives from the Federal Foreign Office and the Office of the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, as well as Ambassador Ram Kaji Khadka, greeted the President and his entourage cordially when they arrived at Berlin-Brandenburg International Airport.

Accompanying President Paudel on the visit are his spouse Sabita Paudel, Foreign Affairs Expert Dr. Suresh Chandra Chalise, Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal, Secretary at the Office of the President Dilliram Sharma, and other senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Office of the President of Nepal. Notably, this marks the first official visit from Nepal at the level of the Head of State to Germany since 1986, signifying the significance of the occasion.

Scheduled during the visit are official talks between President Paudel and President Steinmeier of Germany on Monday, providing an opportunity to discuss bilateral relations and explore avenues for further cooperation. The establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Germany dates back to 1958, underscoring the longstanding ties between the two nations. President Poudel is expected to conclude his visit and return home on June 19, following fruitful engagements and diplomatic exchanges aimed at strengthening bilateral relations.
