KATHMANDU: On August 27, Shanta Lal Pradhan, a 47-year-old national of Nepal who lived in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, USA, was discovered dead in his apartment. Pradhan, who was originally from Bharatpur, Nepal, was getting ready to return to his home country after spending over ten years abroad. He had been living in the United States since 2015. His death's reason has not yet been made public.
Pradhan had faced several challenges during his time in the US, including a gunpoint robbery in Texas and a debilitating neurological ailment in 2019. Despite these difficulties, he still wanted to travel to Nepal to see his wife, son, and daughter.
Ramesh Acharya of Upper Marlboro has started a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for the expenses of returning Pradhan's remains to Nepal. In order to cover costs like embalming, processing fees, and travel for the return of Pradhan's remains, the campaign seeks to raise US$50,000.
